How to Find an Insurance Policy

Hello, my name is Jerry Becerra. I’m with Barbary Insurance Brokerage, and today we’re going to be talking about a number of property and casualty insurance issues. So, how do you find an insurance policy? A lot of people start their search online; researching policies, looking for information about coverage. But, a lot of people aren’t very comfortable buying online, they want to deal with an expert. Remember, you’re hiring a contractor. You’re hiring somebody that’s going to be working for you and it’s going to be a relationship. You can work with people who are appointed directly with insurance companies or you can work with an independent agent that represents many companies. All have good service, it’s just a matter of preference there. If you’re shopping with multiple agents, it’s good to define with the agents what companies they’re approaching to make sure there’s no overlap. If there’s overlap, you’re only going to get a quote from one agent and the other agent’s going to blocked anyway. So, it’s real important that you determine whose going to, which insurance companies and make sure they don’t overlap each other. Then, find the agent that you think understands you and your needs the best, work with them on recommendations determining limits and coverage and then make a purchase decision.
